In this post, I'll be sharing three simple guidelines for selecting the best lure colours to give you optimal results while fishing.
Guideline #1 - Use natural and light colorued lures on sunny fishing days.
If it's bright and sunny outside, you're going to want to use natural and light colorued lures. Some fish such as Bass, have decent vision so on clear and sunny days, you're going to want to use lures that resemble their natural food sources.
Guideline #2 - Use bright lures that'll stand out on cloudy fishing days OR dark lures.
If it's cloudy or if there's an overcast outside, you're going to want to use a bright fishing lure so that it will easily attract the attention of fish. You can also use dark colorued lures that'll maximize profile visibility. For dark lures, black, blue or green colours work best. Solid colour lures, whether bright or dark, work best for situations such as these.
Guideline #3 - Use colours that match the colour of the fishes' prey.
Based on where you're fishing, you're going to want to use certain colours. Texas fisherman might use red lures since the colour resembles the natural colour of crawfish in the Spring. If you're unfamiliar with the type of prey that the fish in your area feed on, ask other fishers in your area or ask at your local bait shop.
